When people order our cut vinyl stickers, they don’t realize that they are a little different than your standard window sticker. Because they can have little pieces or multiple letters that don’t connect, you can’t just peel them off the back a piece at a time.
Each cut vinyl sticker comes with a top coating that can be clear or have a red grid work on it. This is called transfer tape. It’s used to pull the entire sticker off the backing paper in one perfect piece so applying it is simple and perfectly spaced. If you follow these steps, you can apply these stickers easily with no bubbles, wrinkles or mistakes.
STEP 1 - Clean the area where you will be applying the sticker thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or soap and water. Do not use a glass cleaner if it is a window because it will leave a residue behind that will prevent the sticker from adhering well. |
STEP 2 - Rub a squeegee or credit card firmly across the sticker through the clear transfer tape to prepare it for application. This flattens the sticker out. This also ensures the sticker will cling to the transfer tape when you remove it from the backing paper and presses any air bubbles that may have formed during shipping. |
STEP 3 – Slowly peel the white paper backing off the sticker. The cut vinyl pieces should peel off the backing, but stay stuck to the transfer tape. If the sticker clings to the backing, slowly lay the sticker back on the paper backing and repeat Step 2. |
STEP 4 – Once the sticker is removed from the backing, slowly lower the sticker onto the application surface and rub it in place firmly with a squeegee or credit card. If possible, wait a few moments to let it adhere to the surface. |
STEP 5 - Slowly peel the clear transfer tape off at an angle. If the sticker pulls away from the surface and stays stuck to the transfer tape, lay the transfer tape back over that portion of the sticker, rub with the squeegee or credit card again, then try to remove the tape again. Once the tape is removed, you can throw it away. |
